Character Merchandise Manager / Retail Merchandiser

We are seeking a data-driven and trend-savvy Retail Merchandiser specializing in character goods and licensed merchandise. In this role, you will be responsible for product planning, inventory management, and maximizing sales and profitability across our entire retail store chain.

As a crucial bridge between brand managers, and store operations, you will leverage your deep understanding of character culture and market trends to ensure the right products are in the right stores at the right time.

1. Job Description

Product Selection & Assortment Planning

• Develop and execute monthly merchandising plans and assortment strategies tailored to individual store demographics across the chain.

• Identify upcoming trends in Japanese character culture, anime, and gaming to source and secure high-demand products ahead of the market.

• Collaborate with licensors and vendors to procure exclusive or limited-edition character merchandise.

Inventory & Financial Management

• Manage sales, inventory levels, and gross margins (KPIs) to achieve maximum profitability and turnover rate.

• Analyze weekly/monthly sales data using POS systems to optimize stock allocation and prevent out-of-stock or overstock situations.

• Formulate promotional pricing or strategies for slow-moving products.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with the Store Operations and Visual Merchandising (VM) teams to ensure key character properties are highlighted effectively on the sales floor.

• Partner with the marketing team to align merchandise availability with upcoming store events, pop-up shops, and character anniversaries.

• Regularly visit chain stores to collect customer feedback and observe competitor activity.

2. Application Requirements

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Merchandising, Marketing, or a related field.

• 3+ years of experience in retail merchandising or buying, preferably within the entertainment, toy, character goods, or pop-culture fashion industry.

• Proven track record of managing inventory and product life cycles across multiple store locations (chain operations).

Skills & Competencies

• Advanced analytical and quantitative skills, with a high proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis).

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt quickly to fast-shifting consumer trends.

  
  

Preferred Qualifications (A Big Plus!)

• OTAKU : Deep knowledge of and a genuine passion for Japanese anime, gaming, and character culture (Girls KAWAII Culture).

• Over 3 years of experience as a merchandiser

3. Number of Positions Available

• 2 positions

  
  

4. Working Conditions

• Complete flex time (8-hour workday)

• Two consecutive days off per week

• Probation period: 2 months

  
  

5. Salary and Benefits

• Gross Salary: 13 million VND/month

• Lunch and commuting allowances

• Salary increase and bonuses: Generally once a year, including a 13th-month salary plus performance bonuses
